♥ The beach - a poem written by myself , Alecia Bunting

THE BEACH

I close my eyes and listen to the soft sound of the waves lapping. I hear the clattering of the shells tumbling and whooshing under the water. I feel the wind touching my skin as it whispers in my ear. My body reacts and I feel a shiver down my spine like a touch of a ghost. I bury my feet under the sand it feels like a warm blanket. This place is isolated I feel alone, but at the same time I feel free, no thoughts, no nothing this world of my own with no inhibitions. I feel a tingle on my nose as a rain drop runs down my sun drenched cheeks. I open my eyes as the rain drops are falling like tears from the heaven. I see the seagulls flying for cover, they fly like a puppet on strings, they squawk and squeal as they enter the old pohutukawa tree. The sun comes out from hiding and shines and warmthens my skin. I lie back in peace and take one last admiring look at the beach; the sea is as blue and crystal clear as a diamond sparkling from the reflection of the sun. I lie back and close my eyes this sound of nature as it takes me away in to heaven.

By Alecia Bunting.
